Playing Guitar at an Irish Session Workshop-Brian Miller- This workshop is for those who know how to play guitar but are new to Irish sessions, but anyone is welcome to attend. An Irish session is a gathering of musicians and singers who play and sing Celtic and other music together. Learn different rhythmic techniques for jigs (double, slip and slide), reels, hornpipes, polkas and/or waltzes, typical progressions of chords for the most commonly used keys (e.g. G Major), session etiquette and DADGAD tuning. Basket Weaving ($8 supply fee)-Sheila Tasker-
 Must be 15 or older. Taught for beginners, but all levels welcome. Seagrass Baskets are wild, whimsical, or practical and are fun to make. In this workshop you will create a twined basket, a unique accent for your home or as a gift. Materials will include: Seagrass cord, various shells and other embellishments. $8 supply fee which includes all the materials and hand outs. Please bring Scissors, an Awl, a Spray Bottle and an Old Towel. Sheila will have some to share.

Uilleann Pipe Workshop-Eliot Grasso- Eliot Grasso has a Ph.D. in Musicology and is an Adjunct Instructor of Musicology at the University of Oregon. His master’s is from the University of Limerick, Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. He has nine entries in the upcoming Encyclopaedia of Music in Ireland as well as several articles published in Iris na bPiobairi. Learn to Draw Celtic Knots Workshop ($3 supply fee)-Anne Merydith- Anne Merydith has been a member of the Valley Calligraphy Guild for many years and has been teaching Calligraphy and other workshops. Anne has taught this workshop several times at the Eugene Irish Cultural Festival and is an excellent teacher. There is a $3 supply fee for graph paper, pencil and marker.

Turlough O'Carolan Performance and Presentation-The Eugene Recorder Ensemble- Learn about the life of Turlough O'Carolan, who is considered to be one of Ireland's finest composers and hear several of the tunes he composed and why the tunes were composed. Irish Stories-Yvonne Younge- Yvonne Young has been a story teller for three decades, starting in the early 1980s. She serves as Oregon State Liaison to the National Storytelling Network, and is a member of The Healing Story Alliance. In 1997 Yvonne participated as a storytelling delegate from NSN on the People to People tour to Gencun Village in China. Yvonne performs at schools, community events, libraries, and festivals. About Traditional Irish Music-Peggy Hinsman- Learn about the instruments used to play Irish trad in Ireland, their history, different types of tunes, and regional styles of playing music in Ireland. Peggy has been playing traditional Irish music on recorder, fiddle, bodhran and whistle for close to two decades and has read many books about traditional Irish music and has been to Ireland and played at sessions there and almost every week in Eugene.

Irish Dance Workshop-Geraldine Murray- Geraldine Murray owns and teaches Irish Dancing at the Murray School of Irish Dancing in Portland, Oregon. Geraldine as been involved in Irish dance and music for over 40 years and is certified by An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha (The Irish Dance Commission) in Dublin, Ireland, since 1995. She’s a member of the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America and the Western US Region of Irish Step Dance Teachers where she currently serves on the board of directors as the Western US Regional Secretary.
